Mav directed her light blue eyes to Lesion's smiling eyes. " Of
course." she stood from her chair and took his hand. She leaned in
and whispers into his ear " As long as you don't kill me that
is..you sure your ok to dance?"
Lesion smiled warmly back at Mav and said "Let's see then shall we,
Ma'am." It was suddenly a more confident and less confused Lesion
that lead this enchantress to the floor.
She followed closely behind him, still holding to his hand. She
wondered just how many times they be falling down.Lesion gently
swung Mav round to face him, still holding her hand they began to
sway, slowly at first to the rhythm. Lesion leaned to Mavs ear.. "I
am so sorry if I embarrassed you earlier... was just a shock with
like everybody turning up just as i was trying to have perhaps the
first proper conversation in ages." He regarded her in this new
light and was taken aback by her beauty.
" you didn't embarrass me Les" she laughed softly " you embarrassed
yourself. But I don't think anyone will notice." she Smiled at him,
enjoying the having a moment alone with him. " So is that what you
wanted to say to me in private?"
He drew his head back, and if the lights were brighter, Mav may
have seen him redden slightly.. "well partly .... but the rest .. i
don't know where to start." He knew that their closeness was still
there. Something didn't die when they parted. But did she feel the
same? He relaxed again .. and went with the rhythm as they became
lost with each other. "I made some mistakes Mav, but there was one
mistake I'm paying for every day."
Mav eyed him. He was getting at something, she just knew it. but how
should she handle it? Lesion was someone who was indeed close to her
and she could guess maybe what he was thinking on saying. And if she
was correct, that out her in a bind. She was attracted to her former
lover, but there was also another who had caught her interest. even
if he didn't exactly return the sentiments. She rested her chin on
Lesion Shoulder..every time they made a turn, her eyes went back to
him, Smilner. Pulling away from Les's shoulder, she looked at him
seriously " what are you paying for Lesion?"
Lesion didn't let her know, but he was aware of the 'seeming' casual
glances towards the bowler hat. Yes! he was unnerved by it. Even
now at this most crucial time, he couldn't hold her attention. He
would have to deal with this ... Smilner .. whether he wanted to or
not.. "Tell me.. if this person is to be yours, why do you not speak
to each other Mav? Why am I here with you ..now?" Mav's brows nit
for a second as she pondered this herself " Because he doesn't feel
the same? "
Lesion couldn't help but wonder if THIS was his moment. "Then look
into the eyes of someone who does feel those things." He'd plunged
in and was now about waste-deep. "Tell me what you want Josette le
Bousier." At a break in the music, they stopped and Lesion held her
gaze as she looked into his eyes.
She stepped back from him, breaking the contact they had. " Lesion.
If I knew what I wanted, do you think I would be so confused? would
I want you both?" she answered for him " Of course I wouldn't. I
look at you now, and part of me yearns for you. But another part is
stopping me." she shook her head slightly and lowered her eyes to
the ground and stood in front of him for a moment, then turned and
walked back to the table they had been occupying before. She didn't
say a word to anyone as she sat, nor did she look to see if Lesion
followed.Although she sincerely hoped that he did.

Lesion shook himself, deciding he would not see this as defeat. He
strolled back to the table, following Mav,showing no sign of outside
stress. "Hmmmmm. That was ... most enjoyable." Me mused aloud as he
sat opposite Mav and catching Shaitain, before he left
shouted, "Shai... yes! Drink please friend? .. My round next okay?"
He slid back to his chair and turned to the other two sitting at the
table - to the left, between Mav and Lesion .. were Bellina and
Sade.
"Bellina! Lesion nodded gently towards Bell. "Now maybe we can talk
finally... so many changes around all of you here.." He turned to
Sade, "And you Sade, good to see you friend.. how goes it?"
And only a couple of times did he turn to see if Mav was still in a
world of her own. How he wished he was in that world with her. But
for now, he had a bowler hat to contend with and he was getting
impatient.

An eerie silence fell about them as Mav and Lesion strolled away
and
danced. Bellina smiled at Sade but he had become very quiet, luckily
Shaitain spoke up.
"A pleasure as always Shaitain...what brings you to this neck of the
woods? I hope you and Mav get a chance to finally talk..."
Her words drifted off as Mav, followed by Lesion came back to the
table. Bellina glanced at Mav and knew something was up, she
casually
glanced toward her the others at the bar wondering if one of them
was
the cause.
The tension at the table was becoming unbearable and Bellina gently
shook her head "no thanks" to Shaitain's curteous drink offer. She
actually fingered the drink she had received from Smilner and smiled.
"Please excuse me" Bellina said as she picked up her drink and
headed
toward her the man that provided it.

She had just turned to leave when she heard Lesion's voice.
'Stay at the table...stay at the table...you don't need to go over
there and cause trouble.' she thought to herself. She turned back to
them and set her drink down. "It is about time we actually spoke to
one another..." she nodded back.
"I must say its quite interesting that my sister never introduced us
before. Was quite curious who this mysterious lover of hers was..."
she was hoping this would insight some response from Mav.
She smiled, picked up her drink and took a long swallow.

What a remarkable evening. He and Shikon had fully intended to
spark
some problem or another here, but now it seemed that their
interferences would hardly be necessary. The emotions simmering at
the table across the room were deliciously close to exploding without
any prodding at all. All Shikon and Smilner had to do was watch.
This is something the two of them were exceptionally good at. Watch
the standing and the sitting, the shouts of joy and of suprise, the
drinks swallowed before they were tastes. The longing gazes and
sidelong glances. The most interesting part of all is that even
though all of this action occurred at the table across the way, it
seemed that the focus was increasingly being pulled toward the two
friends at the bar.
Especially Lesion. His antagonism was building by the moment, as
every woman he turned to in the bar was seemingly focused on him, if
even on some minor level. He had provided Bellina with drinks, Shikon
with conversation, and MavericksChild...
What had Smilner provided her with? To say the least, he distracted
her. He filled her mind. Smilner could see this clearly: their
battle had left a clear channel between his mind and hers. But
Smilner did not need to look into MavericksChild's mind, for he would
simply be gazing into a mirror.
Smilner knew that Lesion wouldn't stand for this for too long. It was
only a matter of time before something gave out.

Shikon leaned forward toward Smilner her voice just a hint of a
whisper as she stared at the one that had visited her home. Smilner
glanced over his shoulder at the one in question, pursed his lips in
thought before looking back at Shikon and nodding imperceptibly.
Shikon straightened and nodded, "That's what I thought too." Her
look
grew thoughtful as she continued to watch her daughters, Mav lost in
thought and shooting her villainous looks; while Petite was speaking
to Lesion. It was clear that Lesion was a man obsessed with Mav. Mav
knew how she felt about her and Lesion, as did Lesion. Lesion was
not
right for Mav. Mav needed a strong guiding hand. Lesion was more of
a
courtier, old world style. Appearance meant more than deeds. She
herself adored Lesion, but she loved her daughter more, and Lesion
was not the man for her.
Lesion was working on charming Petite now. She narrowed her eyes
speculatively. Would Lesion use Petite to win him point with Mav? If
so, he might just find that it backfires in his face, but it was
hard
to predict. Sibling rivalry, for a man to use one sister against the
other, might find they end up with more than they bargained for.
Shikon's thoughts drifted a bit. She saw the look that Bellina gave
Smilner before Lesion spoke to her. Petite's head was not easily
turned, but she saw the attraction for Smilner in her daughter's
eyes. She also saw how Mav and Smilner argued. Mav was attracted to
Smilner as well, but was fighting that attraction. Her eyes narrowed
as she now regarded Smilner. "Tell me Smilner.. do you think Lesion
is playing my daughters off one another?"

Smilner was not a man easily made uncomfortable. It was notable
that
Shikon was able to do so fairly consistently. She had already done so
no less than twice this evening. Smilner sorely wanted to believe
that Shikon meant nothing more in her questions than precisely what
she asked. However, Smilner was smarter than that, and he knew that
Shikon was smarter than that, as well.
But Shikon asked a question, and he would answer it. "My dear
friend," Smilner started. "I do not feel that poor Lesion here means
ill will for either of your daughters, but might I posit that neither
is truly the object of his desires?" Shikon raised her eyebrows at
this suggestion, silently prompting Smilner to continue.
"Tell me, my dear: Is there a word or term for when one is unable to
attain the thing they want most, and therefore settle for something
close to said object? The individual does not necessarily want the
thing they have settled for, but they take solely because it is close
to what they wish for."
Shikon looked at Smilner, beginning to discern what he was getting
at.
"Continue," she said.
"Well, for example," Smilner explained. "If somebody were to pine
after a girl. An unattainable girl. Say this person were to realize
that this girl was unattainable. Perhaps he would then try to have
her daughters. Not because he intrinsically wanted the daughters, but
simply because they were close to the mother...?"

From outside the Tavern comes the sound of a howling bike, drawing
closer but slowing as it comes.
It stops, and a few seconds later, Jean enters this Tavern for the
first time. He'd heard of the place, but never gotten around to
checking it out, but he felt in need of something different tonight.
Unzipping his black leather jacket (although he disdains a crash
helmet as just too uncool, and vampires really don't have to worry
about mere crashes), he surveys the place.
He sees a few people he recognises, and others he doesn't. Shikon,
he knows by her reputation and the excellent notes he'd seen her
drop around the halls of the city; she's in conversation with
another he doesn't know. He sees Lesion, but he's in conversation
with Bellina. Ever the charming ladies man, that one. The only
vampire who seems to be alone is MavericksChild. He's only spoken
to her a couple of times before, but knows she's likely to be able
to improve his mood considerably. Normally in this frame of mind,
he'd seek out Pandrora, but he knows she has other duties this night.
Sauntering up to Mav, he bows, saying "Good evening, My Lady. Would
you care for a drink ? Been meaning to talk to you for a while... "

While waiting for Mav's response, Jean looked closer at who else
was
around. Catching sight of Sade, he flashed a wicked grin. And he
noticed Lesion moving to the bar; sensed his comrade's slight
confusion (maybe even concern), and nodded to him, to acknowledge
him and pass the signal that he was "off duty" tonight, so to speak.
Then reached over to the bar to order himself a blood vodka. He
needed the strong stuff tonight.
Cursing himself briefly for almost forgetting, he pointed the keyfob
for the bike out through the window and clicked it once to set the
alarm. Not as good as a doberman chained to each wheel, but if
anyone tried to touch it now, he'd know about it and have fun
dealing with them. He was rather attached to his bike; an
immaculate coal black and chrome Z1100R, with a few...
modifications... to improve it's performance. Supercharger, high
lift Yoshi cams, Dyna ingnition, stretched JMC swingarm, a couple of
other bits & bobs, not to mention the bottle of laughing gas hidden
under the seat.
"So what do we do for music in here ?" he asked, looking around to
see if there was any sign of a jukebox or live band.

Bellina approached him and put her hand on his shoulder, a very
forward gesture. "I really must thank you for the drink," Bellina
said. Smilner looked directly into her eyes. Bellina was unable to
find words at this point. She got red, and started shuffling her
feet. To stem the awkward silence, Smilner took her hand in his own,
and brought his lips to her trembling knuckles.
"My dear, it is the least I could do to provide one such as yourself
with a little bit of warmth in as cold a place as this." As Smilner
said this, he was once again reminded of Tomas's broken door, lying
on
the ground. "I could not help but notice that your glass has become
empty. Please, allow me to remedy this. Tomas!" Smilner called to
the bartender, who was busy calculating the cost of a new door and
frame. He quickly came over, ready to provide Bellina with the
necessary service.
"So tell me," Smilner said as he turned back to Bellina, still
casually holding her fingers. "What brings one such as yourself to a
place like this? Truly, we are blessed."

As his lips hit her skin she felt a strange rush of confidence
surge
through her. Her eyes locked on him and she was just enjoying the
moment.
Tomas brought her a new drink and she did not even acknowledge that
there was anyone else in the bar.

She floated down back to reality and answered him quickly.
"I was in search of my mother. I felt her here and I don't usually
come to many bars so I came in. I was going to tell her of how I
helped bandage you after your encounter with Mav and..."
She stopped suddenly and decided she was just going to say it.
"Smilner, I would like to request that you ask my father...if you
could call on me?" She blushed furiously, this was so forward of her
and in front of her mother no less. If this was going to continue,
she had to know his intentions, and so did her parents

Shikon watched Lesion eyeing Mav, as he spoke to Petite. Only to
have
yet another male come and steal Mav right out from under his nose.
It
suited Shikon's twisted sense of humor and she couldn't hold back
the
crooked grin. His frustration when he noticed the new male was
palpable. Bell noticed it too and made her toward them.
Shikon was going speak to Petite, but the look in her eye made her
hold her tongue. She nodded to Petite as she paused by Smilner, and
he laid on the charm. She thought she might need to give them some
privacy when Petite's next statement, took her completely by
surprise.
<snip>
"Smilner, I would like to request that you ask my father...if you
could call on me?" She blushed furiously, this was so forward of her
and in front of her mother no less.

Shikon's eyes widened and she straightened imperceptibly. Her Petite
was asking Smilner to formally ask Heimdag for permission to court
her! She nodded her approval to Bellina for her choice of protocals.
Bellina knew her mind, and when she made her mind up, it was done
after a thorough reflection on the matter. For Bellina to do this,
meant Smilner had encouraged her; for her Petite was not reckless,
she was methodical.
Shikon wanted to see how Smilner would respond. Smilner was a bit
old
for her, and he had a dubious reputation. But Petite was one of
quiet
determination, it could prove to be a very promising match. She too
awaited Smilner's response.

Subject: RE: a slip in
She had been silently contemplating all the decisions she had ahead
of her in the near future. These were not easy decisions in the
least. One particular fate would decide her happiness for the
future, should she choose the wrong one, She could end up broken
hearted. Mav was absentmindedly biting at her finger nail when she
heard a voice she was not extremely familiar with addressing her.
"Good evening, My Lady. Would you care for a drink ? Been meaning to
talk to you for a while... "
Her eyes slowly focused on the new vamp that stood at the table. "
Jean, So nice to see you again. Please have a seat, what would you
like to speak with me about?" She straightened her posture and
stopped the nail biting. She smiled at Les " No need to introduce
you two is there?" Funny thing, as soon as Jean came calling, Sade
and Shai took off. Odd indeed.
She tilted her glass and peered in, it was empty. This is a moment
when she probably would have made a smart remark, about no gentlemen
in the house apparently. But this was a fruitless venture. She might
as well get it her self.
" excuse me for just a second boys, I need to refresh my drink. will
take me only a moment."
She took up her glass and headed to the bar. Mav purposely stayed
far enough away from her mother and Smilner that they wouldn't
bother talking to her. But close enough to get a good look at them
as she passed. How she wanted to drag her mother out by the hair and
demand to know what she was up to. Shikon's little looks in her
direction had not slipped past her. She knew her mother was judging
her. probably talking trash about her to Smilner as well..and thats
one thing she didn't need. She leans on the bar with her elbows. "
I'll have a straight blood..." she ordered to the barkeep, not
really giving a damn about her tone or what he thought of it.
Thats when she heard and saw something that made her heart drop.
Bell was touching Smilner in a almost intimate manner..and words
were forming from her.
"Smilner, I would like to request that you ask my father...if you
could call on me?"
That was it. Her decision had been made for her. Bell was blushing,
Smilner had yet to respond, but by the looks, he wasn't going to
embarrass Bell and turn her down in front of her mother. Her gaze
momentarily went back to her table. Lesion was still waiting for
her, along with Jean. Mav turned away from the couple, mother-in-law
in tow at the bar and waited for her drink. She heaved a small Sigh
and decided to congratulate her sister.
As soon as her drink came, she walked the few feet to
Smilner,Bellina and Shikon. She smiled her best fake smile and
raised her glass to them. " To you both.." She downed the drink and
walked away. Back to her table, back into her seat she sat.
She used the same fake smile on these two in front of her. " I'm
back."
somewhere in her mind..she drifted. She made a decision. finally it
seemed. She wasn't sure why she was attracted to Smilner.
But there was one thing she did know. She loved to hurt him. To
cause him grief and physical pain. She would gift him with that
every time they met...
" So what do we do for fun? Hmm??"
Mav waited for an answer from them both. and hoped they would answer
the same.
